Brianne Shea Professional Counselling Therapist in PEI
Born and raised in Prince Edward Island, I am elated to have returned home after 12 years living across Canada and internationally. From working in the rice paddy fields of northern Thailand to The Glebe area of Ottawa, I have embraced each experience as an opportunity to better connect with, support and understand mental health as it shows up across various populations and cultures. Now a registered Counselling Therapist (College of Counselling Therapy PEI) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association), I feel privileged by the opportunity to provide professional mental health services to the province that shaped my value system and sense of community.
As a therapist, I prioritize fostering a therapeutic relationship where people feel heard, seen, supported, and safe as we collaborate to cultivate meaningful change in their lives. My clinical experience involves working primarily with adolescents and adults supporting complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression and relational issues. I have worked in non-profit agencies, government organizations, school settings, and private practice. Although I have advanced clinical training in a variety of modalities, my most recent specialization involved the completion of a 75hr comprehensive EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) program. This knowledge informs my work, while integrating Ego State Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other trauma-informed modalities as needed. I believe in the power of the mind-body connection and encourage holistic, creative approaches to healing both inside and outside of counselling sessions.
